Hi Rick, thanks for the comments - I fully agree with what you're saying. I think the limitation of any mechanical or automated strategy is how well you can filter out non-productive or losing periods of time. Also I think no one strategy can cover all market conditions (a reversal system won't work well during a trending period, for example). Having tried his 8/13/21 EMA on a few M5 charts I already think the number of setups it picks up will be limited because the M5 price bars very rarely only just touch the 8 EMA, they mostly cross at least 2 or 3 of the EMAs even on a shallow pullback because they are so close - so one of the things to try will be longer EMAs such as the ones you use.
Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to share the process of development of an EA and thought this could be an interesting example - it may produce good results, it may not (it will be interesting if not - i might send him the results in that case and see what he says).
