manufacturing is dying a long and some might say slow death, but temporary tariff protection for all manufacturing industries would/could have stemed the blood bath we are seeing and continue to see. why are govts so scared/gutless to do a fraction of what is done by our competitors? tariffs would be a revenue stream for the short term while the A$ is at a high....too simplistic..maybe but thats where most of lifes answers are imo.
