@madamswer, of course the fund managers wont look into the depth of the stock, but its quite oblivious to say they don't use it at all.... the traders who work for the fund managers use the market depth to get into the shares without pushing up the price too much. I think this is a good spot by @abn2609, the hidden iceberg order can present institutional buying, this is well reflected in the price jump in the last two days. Financial reports wont tell you a good time to get in the shares but depth certainly can.
