Genuine apologies stayer, I do remember my "dig" at you, however, this thread is full of digs, but my post to you, far from it!
It was a legitimate question arising from confusion because it seemed a little out of context, and I've been looking forward to your reply since, I don't know if this is the post you're referring to: http://hotcopper.com.au/threads/sdi-charts.2764854/#.VzPEItJ95pg
Also, it appears I left something out which I usually include in my TA, which is my check on short selling. Currently there is absolutely zero short interest in this stock, here is the link I like to use. Of course that doesn't mean it can't be shorted, don't know where to check this, but none of my brokers are offering short-selling on it which is re-assuring.
Agree on your short selling scenario...I believe the term used is a short-squeeze...however, I am not totally against it! Just as funds can buy up stocks, they can sell down on them too. My belief is that there is a large proportion of CEO's out there that will do whatever it takes to boost the stock price in the short-term (obvious incentives for them), including misleading the public and shareholders...
Now if a CEO is doing a great job with excellent results whilst being honest and transparent to the public, sure people will buy up the stock...however, if they're doing the opposite and hiding the truth whilst building their stock holdings' value before planning a sneaky exit from the company...I think that warrants punishing the company and I would personally love to short sell it down hard before they leave...
So although short-selling creates huge volatility, and ASX have placed restrictions on many stocks (mainly the smaller caps), I think it is fair and truly represents the free market.
Lastly, at no point did I or would I suggest anyone in this thread is a fool. I'm sure they've been in the game MUCH longer than me, and have a great deal of experience they could share. But I found their comments here have been relatively narrow-minded...anyway it's just discussion, so fair enough, I responded back...
