I saw the closing of offices and selling of unprofitable business units as positive. In todays business climate many companies should be doing this to ensure a future for the organisation and its remaining employees. Often organisations who collapse do so because the the management ignored warning signs and refused to take corrective action. Nearly all tech companies have lost business in the last 12-18 months and the correct response to that is to re-size the company to ensure a future.
As for people being badly treated I guess I'd need to speak to one before I'd necessarily believe it. There are lots of people being retrenched these days and not too many of them feel positively towards the company responsible afterwards. There isn't an easy way to do this. I'm assuming they were paid at least what the law provides for or PWR would have many court cases on its hands.
Something smells bad to me about the clarity acquisition though.
