Have you ever bought a fridge from Harvey Norman or The Good Guys? They have a marked price and another price at which the salesman makes no commission. The idea is the salesman wants to sell to you at the marked price so he can make maximum commission. However, if he is risking losing the sale, he will negotiate to salvage some commission.
This is how FLT works. No different to many retail sales. However, FLT does give a base salary, unlike real estate and some retail.
FLT wants performers, not bludgers who feel entitled.
