It's a typical ploy to play the one project risk game when a big company wants to grab a rich project from the shareholders of a smaller company.
I recall WMC shareholders being diluted into BHP just before WMC's two main commodites, nickel and uranium took off.
The rise in BHP was insignificant compared to how WMC would have moved. WMC shareholders lost out big time.
