i presume the technology would be a scintillometer with a well-calibrated K channel and a controlled environment for measuring background and signal from each core at metre intervals. Should be a piece of cake. Or might be a magic little instrument measuring characteristic peaks for the target minerals in terms of their infra-red spectral characteristics.....
