Firing up at a fresh prospect

QUINTESSENTIAL Resources has started diamond core drilling at the key Mal porphyry copper-molybdenum-gold prospect of its Bismarck project in Papua New Guinea.

A track-mounted rig capable of drilling to depths of 1km is undertaking the program while the explorer’s other rig remains onsite at the Tekem gold prospect in the project area.

Quintessential managing director Paige McNeil said the Mal prospect was arguably located in the most prospective and underexplored geological address in PNG’s Highlands.

“The results from the geophysical and geochemical surveys have confirmed our initial interpretations and compelling targets have been delineated,” she said.

“Success will ultimately come from continuous drilling, which is why Quintessential committed to purchasing two drilling rigs with [initial public offering] funds.

“The Mal landowners are very supportive of the first drilling program to be undertaken in their area.”
