I don't get the connection. I don't think ASB's fortunes are linked to broader economic growth. In fact, its probably the reverse. When times are tough and GDP is contracting, that's when Govt should be spending more (defence being one way to do so).
My view is that ASB will look cheap today if they win the FF contract in the US and they do not pay overs for a South Australian manufacturing base, if they go down that road. I think ASB were outsiders for the FF contract but the problems with the Freedom class recently have brought ASB well and truly back into the race. Still too hard to determine.
I am staying in ASB for the next 12-18 months.
