Interestingly GEM actually considered reopening E4 in 2010 which I wasn't aware of:

The numbers must have been very close if they considered it.
I expect the reason they didn't reopen it (at least I am not aware they did) was the same reason they sold the mine to Goodrich, ie to avoid capital expnditure to spend on their other mine projects.
Patiently waiting for the quarterly to see if they are cashflow positive. With base metals and gold etc looking increasingly volatile and uncertain, for me the attraction of a miner with a project with stable product price is growing.
