Aquaculture will have to play an increasingly important role in meeting the global demand for fisheries as the world population continues to expand and fisheries stocks approach their biological limits.
Back in the late 70s and early 80s nobody had heard of aquaculture and it only accounted for some 6 per cent of the global fish supply at the time, but on a worldwide basis aquaculture now supplies 47 per cent of the fish supply for human consumption and that this trend continues to grow.
This is an extraordinary rate of growth over such a short period of time, this highlights why aquaculture is regarded as the fastest growing sector in food production globally.
I am told that CAQs South African partner are very close to making a decision on the joint venture, then watch the share price, IMO it will go up like a Roosters Feather...
