Mainly the impression of this article is regarding Guadalcanal, and Gold . But is more referencing overall Mining in the Solomons as needed , replace logging substantially and retrograde , unsustainable destructive industry.
One day - I may get to that dedicated thread , for SI progress and news of significance.
The Solomons are our neighbours, I believe ultimately , we will be far closer together , recognised by general Australians .
Education , understanding of mining , imperatives for : now has been the focus for years Isabel . Whole of life - the local people understood the resources are viable , and potentially very valuable if accesssed sustainably.
The SI Govt itself - stuffed up ,the Mines Dept was not adequately supported. SI Govt budget not huge for administrative expectations we would normally hold - for working and standards within departments. Ministers have multiple areas of responsibility.
(Unethical efforts -unfortunate formerly even by SMM , Chinese companies , now history . Mines minister - also behaved in fraudulent manner . Was stood down.)
I believe the SI has a steady - actually probably uniquely amazing future ahead ! Really
