Australia's Macquarie Airports eyes Budapest Airport - report
06.29.2005, 07:58 PM
SYDNEY (AFX) - Macquarie Airports Ltd is among 11 companies that have applied to buy a nearly 75 pct stake in airport management company Budapest Airport Ltd, The Australian Financial Review reported without citing sources.
It said the Hungarian Government did not name the 11 groups that have lodged an expression of interest ahead of this week's cut-off for the nation's biggest airport operator but Macquarie Airports is believed to be a strong contender.
Hungary's State Privatization & Holding Rt will announce the companies which have made it to the first round of bidding by July 12.
Other companies which have expressed an interest include Deutsche Bank AG in conjunction with Fraport AG, which owns Frankfurt Airport, UK airport operator BAA, German construction company Hochtief AG and Copenhagen Airports.
