The cattle market usually tries to step of with a new set of lower values after a dear finish to the year but that is not the case . I sold fat santa cows today for 15c/kg more than they would have made in December & the feeder orders are as strong as ever. Was talking to the vet who does my work & he said that his pregnancy testing numbers were down by at least 30% from previous years , meaning that he was going to the same farms , preg testing the same cow herds but that they all had a lot less breeders to test having sold off so many on the high market & keeping less replacement heifers for the same reason .$$$$. They can see the opportunity to pay down debt. By the way it is obvious that that parker bloke sitting in a land far far away has no idea about how the cattle industry works especially in Australia. Why he bothers is beyond me.
