With all due respect I acknowledge India presents a unique environment to work in. However in my experience (spent three years working there with a geophysical company under contract to ONGC) although there is a massive amount of beauracy to navigate it's not the "wild west frontier that many portray it as" Compared with working in other Asian countries e.g. Indonesia or Malaysia they're literally saints.
I tend to think that the problems encountered are more likely to be self inflicted by people who seem to be completely out of their depth.
