I'll be honest and say that I don't actually pay for Mergermarket. We have this as one of our data sources at work.
I have a bunch of alerts set up and they do provide their own proprietary intelligence which is great for trade ideas. We mainly use Mergermarket as a way of building transaction multiples to see what type of premiums the market is placing on companies.
Another source that I use at work, which I think is more beneficial to Mergermarket is S&P Capital IQ. I use this more frequently and am able to drill down and search for companies that meet specific criteria. I've attached a screenshot of Phoenix Gold as an example of the home screen. Not sure on the cost of a subscription (I hear its on par with Bloomberg), however if I ever changed jobs this is the data source that I could warrant paying good money on.
Cheers
