I agree with a lot of what you say. And no one discusses the additional electrical Charging load that will be added to the existing power infrastructure and how it will be produced.
There are a lot of charging ideas under development that seem very expensive to implement.
In 2015 it was estimated there were 18 million registered motor vehicles in Australia. Now think globally!
Imagine if in Aus they all try charging at the same time.
Our infrastructure is inadequate now, so what will it be like in the future?
Cars, Battery tech, charging systems, electrical infrastructure and battery life will need a lot of development!
And the development will advance very quickly, except maybe the infrastructure?
The electric hyper cars and Formula E cars are extremely complicated and very expensive, eventually their tech will flow down to street cars, but at what cost?
Electric cars will be the future, although exactly how so many cars will be charged from a mains supply could be a major concern? I think hybrid petrol electric will come and stay for a while. Formula 1 uses hybrid tech.
But in defense of electric cars...versus petrol/hybrid.
