For me....given the 30+ year mine life, the quality of the product, the very beneficial logistics and supportive Govt, not to mention the very compelling numbers of the project, I would be happy for CXX to do the long game and continue with production. The Dividends coming off this operation would solve my current issue of "where is my retirement cash flow going to come from in about 5 years time...?".
On the other hand, for all the above reasons (& more), I would also be quite happy if the majority of shareholders decided they didn't want to do the long game - preferring to maximise the lump sum now. As recent news stories have shown, there would clearly be competition amongst potential buyers so selling the project would be very appealing - dollar wise.
As for a Takeover - IMO, this would be the craziest way for any shareholder to walk away from his/her investment. Given the (easily achievable) alternatives, I just can't see the Board recommending this option. I can't see how they could substantiate such an option.
