It's about the change from fossil fuel to renewable energy, not only because it's needed but because it's now got to the stage where it's also more commercially viable[cheaper].
It's no conspiracy theory, it's a reasonable assumption as to why a dying industry should be treated as if it has more of a future than to provide an orderly exit in support of it's replacement.
