From my knowledge its not uncommon for patents to have this, patents get refined over time, some elements get accepted, some elements get rejected.
What's important is that I believe a product like this one doesn't rest on any one patent, and you can see they lodged three more in Sept 18'. Given the creds of the UQ team, you'll probably see more different IP generated over the course of product development.
