Labour have been shouting and ruling out all the way to this point, that funding for the rail line section of the massive Adani's mine project in the Galilee basin to the Abbot Point coal terminal in North Queensland, any pull back in government funding for that project could make it difficult for that one to go ahead.
There have been concerns about the impact of the reef due to dredging up in port abbot and the increase in shipping traffic. Palaszczuk was saying -
'We don't believe taxpayers should be paying for mining companies to subsidise them for developments that could damage the reef'
That one will receive a lot of attention now, seeing as the project was due to create some 28,000 jobs; Adani have begun to award contracts for sections of that mining project already.
Also the decrease in the cost of gas dragged down by the fall in the price of oil has had a significant drag effect on operations in the Queensland CSG space; There's been a lot of workers laid off as late due to the halting of current gas work packages and even some contracts that have been signed for expanding phases have been pulled back, apparently there's been a further squeeze on any of the minimal amount of gas supply that's left for domestic use, as the gas boys acted quickly to increase gas volumes in some of there export contracts in order to capture the then current price as the over all price of gas continued to spiral downwards.
What do that mean?? Well IMO more of a need to get UCG moving. The labour government would be nuts to turn its head. Create jobs and try and claw back some gas supply to the domestic market.
It was an 'Independent Scientific Panel' (ISP) that the Queensland government appointed to assess Carbon energy's pilot trials in Queensland. Carbon Energy responded to all the ISPs required and so were we just awaiting a response from the Qld gov.
All the questions and answers are already on the table ;it's just a matter if labour wants to create Jobs and domestic gas supply, particularly when both appear to be running the opposite way.
It will take a bit more time now IMO to get a decision with Labour needing to run there fingers through the pages, but the 'Independent' Scientific panel inclusion should significantly reduce that time IMO
