There is a considerable difference in electricity charges Australia-wide.
For example:
State..............cents/kwh
ACT................20.2
NSW..............27.9
WA.................29.7
Tas.................31.1
Qld.................31.3
NT..................31.8
SA.................33.3
Vic.................35.2
It is interesting that the ACT which has the highest national income per capita
has the lowest electricity charge. If this is due to low distribution costs due to
the ACT's City/State status then perhaps our Capital Cities should split from
their respective states and form City/States so that City dwellers do not
have to subsidise the Bush. (Gen X & Y seem to be going for user pays so
why not give it a burl.)
It is interesting that Tassie has higher charges than NSW ,WA & ACT
despite it having a higher %age of electricity hydro generated.
