byteme, whilst it may seem like a good idea to parents their most precious loved ones, I don't see it happening. If we go back to non profit community centres, will the government also relax it's standards, ie staffing levels as a percentage to children numbers, and other less stringent regulations that existed before the privatisation of the industry. Will childcare workers accept being paid even less and who will manage all of these non profit community centres. Child care workers already are unhappy with low income levels. Are you expecting a large number of volunteers to come forward and what qualifictaions and experience will they have. Sure parents that have children in these centres are happy, but why are there limited non profit community centres in existence now. Ina perfect world I would agree with you and I have no problem with these centres, I just don't see it happening.
