In the United States, there is a $4 Billion dollar biotechnology investment fund that is a combined project of the Federal government, (some) state governments, private investment funds, venture capitalists, and other companies.
This is via the National Science Foundation.
Cynata has applied for a grant from this fund, but have somewhat tempered expectations at the moment, since there are many applications and the process is long and bureaucratic and complex. But this is why Cynata as a company are registered out of California.
Awarded projects can receive from $50K to over $1 Billion dollars. Last year 3 projects received grants of more than $1 Billion dollars. The Yanks take their biotechnology stuff very seriously.
If you do a search for Mesenchymal stem cells, you will find there were 43 grants provided in the last couple of years.
