E. coli in Canada, again, page-7

    The cases you raise re rockmelons, strawberries, and of course the latest case of E coli in Cos lettuce is one of the reasons why the big supermarkets want to guarantee their supply.

    Although I'm speculating, I find it interesting the "prominent Quebec supermarket chain" that Gibio are proposing to supply, chose Cos lettuce as their initial line after there was a lot of press on the E coli break out last year. This latest breakout can only be good for their business plan. It appears to be bigger than the last breakout, extending to Ontario as well as the US. (see link below)

    Gibio are looking for minimal human intervention with their highly automated system incorporating Rotogro's remote 24/7 monitoring of all parameters. Freshero's Australian major supermarket chain no doubt would be looking for the same security. Eventually all supermarket chains will need to catch up and do something similar.

    Rotogro/Gibio/Freshero are in the box seat here, like Freshero, Gibio will no doubt be looking to expand to other lines. These 2 contracts will be very lucrative over the next few years.
