New revenge porn laws boost jail time to seven years

People who share revenge porn could spend up to seven years in prison under new laws designed to crack down on "online creeps".

Corporations can be fined up to $525,000 and individuals up to $105,000 for sharing intimate images of people without their consent, under the proposed changes.

Communications Minister Mitch Fifield says the laws are aimed at protecting victims and send a strong message about such behaviour.

"The non-consensual sharing of intimate images is unacceptable in our society," he said on Wednesday.
