The early bird catches the worm as SXG sets itself to cheaply pour gold by mid 2010.
Southern Cross Goldfields have this morning updated its gold laterite shallow drilling at Dulcie.
With 65% of the total proposed program comleted, these results confirm widespread distribution of gold bearing laterite.
A program of deeper drilling designed to test the source of the gold in laterite has been designed. This will be undertaken on completion of the laterite drilling, in conjunction with testing the depth extent of the Battler mineralisation (located approximately 20km north of Marvel Loch).
Four targets will be tested by this program:
•
Banded iron formation (BIF) beneath the Northern Zone laterite where previous drilling has intersected up to 3m @ 8.7g/t Au
•
BIF beneath the Central Zone laterite where high grade gold mineralisation has historically been mined on a small scale
•
Amphibolite hosted mineralisation beneath the Central Zone laterite which has returned broad, low grade intercepts in previous explorers drilling
•
Mafic/felsic hosted mineralisation beneath elevated gold outlined in saprolite to the east of the Northern Zone laterite where previous explorers drilling has returned up to 5m @ 3.54g/t Au at the end of a RAB drill-hole.
TONY TRUELOVE, SXG's MANAGING DIRECTOR, comments:
“Drilling continues to return excellent results, with the gold in laterite mineralisation now being confirmed as continuing to the south.
It appears from the extent of gold mineralised laterite outlined to date, that SXG’s concept of a heap leachable deposit in this district is rapidly being realised.
This mineralisation is also a very large geochemical anomaly and so a drilling program has been designed to test beneath the laterite in the Northern and Central zones. If successful, this could significantly add to the size of the project"
