Valvesounds has been repeating the same thing over and over again, i emailed dropsuite a while back regarding his comments and dropsuite replied with in hours, their reponse below.

At Dropmysite it is our policy not to comment on posts to forums or other places or to comment on our IPO or any sort of valuation of our stock. But since you reached out, we are happy to answer your query.


To answer your questions:


For your Website and Database backup:

You are comparing apples to oranges when it comes to the speed of the backups.
Idera is an on premise product meaning that the backups are in the same physical location as the actual server on which the website is hosted. Dropmysite is a cloud backup product that is off site or not on premise. On premise solutions are by nature faster. It is similar to putting money under your mattress in your house or going across town to put your money in the bank; it will take a longer time to go to the bank than your bedroom and by the way let’s hope your house does not burn down.

There are many other superior benefits to our product. Dropmysite uses military grade encryption to protect the data at rest and in transit. We also offer one click restore - up to 30 versions - for files and databases ( MySQL, PostgreSQL and MS SQL) to easily restore your website when things go bad. We offer website monitoring. We also offer blacklist monitoring powered by Google’s technology. We also give you the customer complete control over your data and as well as many other capabilities.

As for incremental backup, we definitely do incremental backup for website files and will only backup the changes made to the website files. So any subsequent backup will take much less time than the first backup. You, as the customer, have the ability to schedule the time and frequency of your backups whenever you would like be it at night or any other time of the day. Databases backups are not incremental, those are saved as dump files, which is a common practice.

For your email backup:

what type of email are you currently using? Are you using POP3 or IMAP?
If you are using IMAP, we do backup all of the emails including your inbox and all of your other folders. If you have the backup set as POP3 then yes we only backup the inbox. There is a warning on the dashboard if you select POP3 that clearly explains this.
