The article, although on GDDY itself, speaks to the struggle of hosting companies as their core businesses (hosting and domain sales) become commodified.
A natural inference from this is that to maintain profits they will need to focus on selling Value Added Services (VAS). Dropsuite's backup products are such. I think with the market coming to understand this struggle on the part of hosting businesses, hosting companies will have to double down on VAS sales, and VAS providers (such as Dropsuite) should see uplift in interest as a result. It's a pretty direct nexus.
