This is usually what happens - from my experience anyway ..
If the entitlement is oversubscribed usually the company takes the first in first served approach.
If the entitlement is undersubscribed then the company usually will accept payments after the closing date.
If you provide payment after the closing date and the entitlement is oversubscribed usually a cheque is mailed.
