Thanks nord, you were right about that channel and it did go a bit further than expected. That's the "Stokes buy in premium" that I've talked about in my previous posts. The share price also would have been helped along during this time by a reasonable consolidation in the oil price from the deep lows. Some of the fear of greater falls in the oil price were dissipated in that time as the dramatic fall in the rig count in the US kicked in to start putting a dent in the US supply. What you didn't talk about are the gas discoveries announced during the rise of that channel. They didn't seem to effect the share price at all which is a red flag to me.

What's more and I've pointed it out once before, is the channel you are comparing this recent channel to was based on the market reaction after STO announced its JV and capital injection into DLS's gas projects (during a high oil price environment). Clearly a more positive time for oil and the market for DLS shares than currently IMO.

I personally don't think we will get a chance to buy shares again in the low 90cent range as the merger will have happened before then IMO and then you'll have to evaluate if an investment in the merged company is as attractive as one in DLS alone.
