RC drilling to commence early this week to test the expansion potential for the Calingiri Copper-Molybdenum Project, 120km NE of Perth, to host multiple centres of mineralisation.
? Drilling will initially target the large Edmonds and Kurrali anomalies, respectively located 2km and 5km south of the Dasher prospect, where drilling earlier this year intersected substantial widths (up to 233m down-hole) of continuous copper-molybdenum mineralisation.
? The program, comprising 5,300m of drilling, will also test the Cavel prospect. Drilling is expected to continue until late January 2014. Assay results will be available in Q1 2014.
Caravel Minerals Limited (“Caravel” or the “Company”) (ASX: CVV) is pleased to advise that Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling will commence this week at its flagship 100%-owned Calingiri Copper-Molybdenum Project, located 120km north-east of Perth in WA.
The upcoming drilling program represents the culmination of an extensive exploration effort this year which has confirmed the potential for the Calingiri Project to host large tonnage, disseminated style, primary copper-molybdenum mineralisation.
Drilling earlier this year intersected substantial widths of copper-molybdenum mineralisation at the Dasher prospect, underpinning a highly prospective exploration target (see News Release dated 2 August 2013). Dasher covers a 1km section within a prospective 30km trend at Calingiri.
Subsequent exploration, including an Induced Polarisation (IP) survey, has revealed further highly promising prospects along the Calingiri trend. These include the recently discovered Edmonds prospect – a large chargeability anomaly measuring 2km by 1km, with similar chargeability intensities to those seen at Dasher. Edmonds is located 2km south of Dasher.
In total, five priority prospects have been identified to date along a 7.5km strike length at Calingiri.
Calingiri Drilling
The Phase 1 drilling program will initially comprise 5,300m of RC drilling. The rig will initially test the Edmonds and Kurrali prospects, with testing of the Cavel prospect to follow in early 2014.
Phase 1 drilling (refer to Figure 1) at all three priority prospects is targeting significant IP chargeability anomalies thought to represent disseminated style sulphide mineralisation. The presence of correlating copper surface geochemical anomalies increases confidence that primary (bedrock) copper mineralisation may be associated with and/or is directly related to the chargeability anomalies.
The Phase 1 drilling at Kurrali is expected to be completed in December and at Edmonds and Cavel in January 2014. Complete assay results are expected to be received in January/February 2014.
A follow up Phase 2 drill program is planned for Q2 2014,
