Quest Petroleum NL given the go-ahead for Indonesian Komering Basin drilling rambuenergy November 19, 2013 Upstream
RAMBU ENERGY – Indonesia Energy Regulator has approved plans for drilling of the Kayumanis 1 well in the Indonesian Komering Basin by Quest Petroleum.
The approval of the Quest Petroleum’s 2012 work plan mean negotiations for the drilling contract can now go ahead and be finalised in the next month.
All third party service contracts are also currently being negotiated and materials and personnel are being mobilised in preparation to commence drilling.
The Kayumanis 1 well is located in the highly prospective Komering Basin, where prospect potential is estimated at up to 59 million barrels or 340 billion cubic feet of gas.
The target reservoirs are in the Baturaja Limestone and Talang Akar Sandstone formations which are the most prolific oil and gas reservoirs in the South Sumatra Basin.
Quest Petroleum managing director, Anthony Milewski, said: “The BPMIGAS approvals are a significant milestone for the company and the commencement of drilling is now visible at this highly prospective location.”
The drill site is on well-drained, elevated land adjacent to a paved asphalt road which will facilitate the commencement of drilling and completion.
Quest Petroleum advises that the spud date will be in December subject to rig mobilisation and land access agreements. at a later date.
Based on results of this initial drilling, two further wells are planned, details of which will be released at a later date.
