Isn't it amazing in Australia that any hedge company with deep pockets can keep shorting down any mid size company to ridiculous prices and sit back and wait for a takeover or seek one out and double their money while ordinary shareholders suffer large losses.

Of course they can't short the big companies under this method because they might lose money. There's a ridiculous argument that a company wont be shorted if its doing OK. This is hogwash as it simply depends on the Cap value of the company thats being shorted. For US hedge funds $200mil is pocket money.
