Lynas is not Dangerous

Source: Free Malaysia TodayM ccording Utusan Online, based on the report of the Director of the Department of Environment (DOE) Malaysia, Rosli Zul and Public Health Physicians Health Ministry, Dr Nur Aiza Zakaria in November last year found there were no negative effects on the environment and health of the people behind the operation Lynas plant.
In fact, some water samples taken at two Sunai Balok stations have found no pollution. The water previously categorized as fourth grade turns into third class water when it passes through industrial areas as the water has been treated.
Lynas Factory Comply with Regulated Rule
The plant clearly adheres to regulations set by the authorities including environmental quality regulation related to scheduled, industrial and clean wastewater as well as the quality monitoring proposed in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report.

Recently, the authors took part in field studies around Kuantan and Indera Mahkota to gain views from the local community. The study conducted by an independent research body has succeeded in obtaining almost 1,000 local community respondents comprising the Malay, Chinese and Indian communities.
For the Chinese community, they clearly rejected the existence of a Lynas plant for health reasons. They also list the health effects that local residents can expect, such as pregnancy defects, respiratory problems and so on. However, when asking for evidence as intended, there is no evidence available. On average they only follow the Lynas issue based on newspapers, social media and anti-Lynas campaigns.
The reception of negative news in the early stages caused them to completely reject Lynas without any clear consideration over the explanation campaign. On average, many do not know what products can be produced from the Lynas plant.
The same applies to the Indian community. Most of them refuse because of the facts they receive from rejection campaigns in social media. For the elderly, they only follow what they say through word of mouth as the issue is difficult to understand.

Although some refuse to play political sentiments, it can be said that the majority of them agree to the existence of the Lynas plant in Kuantan. The approximate average is the residents around the Balok River, those working at the Lynas plant and those with whom they work there.
Justified Allegations
For those who agree, they think the plant does not threaten their health. The negative effects of health as it is said by the public is justification because there is no death in the area due to Lynas. They also agreed to the existence of Lynas for providing a great deal of employment to the locals.
Source: Field StudyFor those who have worked in Lynas, they were initially at ease with the negative assertions as mentioned above, especially rare earths that could be radioactive. But after some time worked there, the average was not convinced of the negative effects that were alleged. In fact, the plant complies with all regulations set by the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB).
No Pollution Trends At 11 Near Clinics
To prove the argument, based on Dr Nur Aiza's record, monitoring at 11 public health clinics around the Lynas plant found that there has been no increase in illness trends such as cancer, eye inflammation, respiratory or respiratory diseases among locals over the past six years except when haze in 2013.
There is a question among the public why Lynas projects are not working in Australia alone and why choose Malaysia? Based on information from Lynas management, low water and electricity cost factors are the reason they choose Malaysia compared to Australia.
Similarly, the public question of the reliability of radioactive material plant in Malaysia. For the Director-General of the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB), Hamrah Mohamad Ali, Lynas is not the first manufacturer of radioactive material in the country, as previously there were seven other factories including Petronas Mencari Gali in Malaysia.
Able to Produce Automotive Automotive Goods
The issue regarding Lynas is actually to be seen in the academic framework without regard to political support. Positive, Lynas is capable of producing automotive interior products for hybrid and electric vehicles, electronic equipment, automation and defense systems, wind turbines including oil and gas refineries. Expectedly, these products are able to contribute towards the third national car project and the national car train project.
Source: Malaysia DatelineIf Lynas refinery is directed to close, then research needs to be done with a fair process, through scientific and non-emotional proofing. Honestly, until today there is no evidence that explains the negative impact of Lynas.
