What I think the reason is doesn't matter mate.

There can be several reasons for wanting to manipulate the SP of a Company and it's possible more than one reason can be at play at the same time. Obviously, these are known only to the manipulating party but eventually the motivations become clear.

Whatever the motivation is - it is how the rest of us well intentioned shareholders react that will complete the picture!
