Interesting debate guys I like reading your views. Heres my two bobs worth.

We'll I've just spent the last hour checking out DES's new aquisitions. Both are "out there" and would have their own niche cleintele. 3D world has been going for a while with a free weekly mag boasting 150,000 readers. While Oyster seems like something the young trend & rich would like. Strangely I have the urge to go back and explore Oyster some more.
While your checking it out dont fo get to read the "about us" on each, also read "advertise with us". I downloaded the online media pack for oyster and found it very informative.

Now I am not into "Rave" "Grunch" Trance" Underground or "Godskitchen" but clearly there are people who are.

Now to paraphase from DES Web site "The target market is 12-30 year olds, a notoriously difficult market to advertise to. Destra realizes this and recognizes the best way to capture this audience is to make them regular users of their content before trying to sell. The content in this case is popular with a particular demographic/disposition.Destra has in sight to acquire and digitise intellectual property like music and movies. All the relevant metadata and content will then be stored on secure servers and be made available across all of Destra’s business units which include mobile devices, digital stores and physical stores.
The key issue is to find and retain recurring users.

$1.5 million to pick up a 150000 plus recurring users isnt too bad a deal.
I'm happy to welcome another two communites to the DES Stable.

Check out the sites, look who and what are advertising, read the forums. view the content and make up your own minds. I found things I liked and disliked thought about the potentional from a business point of view.

    I hold

    Oscar

and I am guessing it's sole source of income is from advertising, with the transformation in place to online. If you like the music they play at Rave parties

I'm not buying into the debate
