I sincerely hope that there is no worker ever forced on leave with no pay and no indication as to what is happening with thier employment at any company - essentially fired with no compensation
If there was any company putting employees in this situation in Australia,in2018- I would hope that their industry union would listen- stand up - along with fairwork Australia and make a sheeeeet loss of noise about the employer , it’s directors and managers and get these workers paid
As an example- jag shuttered their plant in China this week due to a huge fall in sales - they made it clear workers would still be paid whilst the plant is shuttered and be reinstated once demand or stock is cleared- all
Companies should be doing similar if there is a problem with operations or demand
I’m not implying cdu has or is breaking any law- this is just a general statement
