Judd is only out of contract after Oct 31 - after the national draft. If WC can do a trade before then they can get compensation. If they cannot do a trade he has to place himself in the pre-season draft where he takes his chance. in that draft he is allowed to set a price on his services. Richmond has first pick in that draft. It is extremely unlikelty that WC would allow that to happen - they would get nothing.

WC preference is for Judd to give them more than one club to deal with. The strong word here in Melbourne today is that he has chosen the Demons.
