All they seem to have done is given Nic Davis a slightly stronger negotiating position with a third party. Although if they are resigned to the bid failing and this miserly increase would suggest so They may feel that should the final makeup have them sitting across the table from a big boy they dont want to be there and by doing this they can sell at a higher price and yet have the ability to fund this price if necessary
