re: scottaru, passengers carried? Yep, travel related shares are clawing their way back, as is the likes of BHP, and the FTSE in general. What fall did BAA record yesterday? British Airways fell 4% but have only regained 1%.

Don't have specific stats for London sorry, was speaking generally, and just about Qantas. Between Qantas and BA, there are 49 flights a week Aus to London. Under the JSA both airlines share costs and profits. Other airports e.g. SIA will be less affected as they already operate direct flights to secondary airports in the UK such as Manchester and Edinburgh. In any case it looks as if the markets are going to brush the whole sorry business aside, and given the strong historical connection between Australia and Britain most of the travelling public is likely to as well. If there is another incident in the next couple of weeks, travel confidence will take a big hit.

Unrelated to the events in London, MAP was already in a downtrend. Not only has it gone ex div, but it's now outside the "ratings season" for the calculation of MBL's outperformance fee. Remember last time it fell to 3.07, ready for the strong run that led to the calculation of the latest payment. I feel there is further to fall as someone has an interest in it falling.
