The EIS did need to be redone for route change reasons brought on them by State Gov reasons of land allocation.
The new route did go thru endangered species areas.

Red mud ,you are right that it is the nick name for the byproduct of Bauxite in the production of aluminium, but I can see that it could also be the by product of iron ore -also red .?
