Countries the world over are actively destroying thier currencies to make thier goods cheaper to chumps like us Aussies who crank up the value of our dollar, then add to that that they charge tax on incoming goods and you have a double layer "tariffs" without having to call them tariffs.

This statement says it all:

``The $1000 tax-free threshold is unique to Australia, with countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand all imposing varying amounts of tax.''

The gst is a GOODS and SERVICES tax, we are talking about imported GOODS, how complicated is it?
Of course it should apply to ALL goods sold not just be applied willy nilly to disadvantage our own businesses.


Ps: AUD will tank, HVN will fall some more and i will be waiting till around the 2.50 mark to load up and in 5 or 10 years time Gerry Harvey will be the toast of the retail town once more.
