Govt to review EU biofuels policy

The Federal Government will examine changes to the European Union's biofuels policy.
Revised reports indicate some biofuels do not reduce carbon emissions as had been previously thought.
Yesterday, the EU said it did not foresee the problems raised by its policy to get 10 per cent of Europe's fuels from plants.
Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett says the Government will need to look at the changes before commenting further.
"We're going to need a mix of measures to deal with alternative fuel supplies," he said.
"It is the case in come countries and in some parts of the world, people are raising concerns about the impact that biofuels might be having overall on biodiversity."
