    Desalination plant proposed near Albany

"The Water Corporation has identified two locations near Albany, on Western Australia's south coast, as potential sites for a desalination plant.

The plant is just one of a number of different options being considered as a way of securing the region's long-term water needs.

The corporation says one of the sites is near the Albany wind farm and the other is near the south coast water treatment plant."

This article from 2009, shows that Albany was once considered as a likely site for a desalination plant.

A site "near the wind farm" was nominated as a possible location for a desalination plant.

As we know, "near the wind farm" is where the Carnegie Clean Energy Wave Farm will be located. We also know that CCE has already provided desalinated water to the Garden Island Naval Base from wave energy generated power from the CETO5 array.

Is it just an interesting coincidence that the Albany site has attracted so much interest, or is there something cooking?

Would they be thinking that emission free wind, wave and solar power might one day be powering a desalination plant in the south west of the state?

Just to add another morsel, the south west has also been nominated as a possible site for pumped hydro storage.
