demerger - more than a gleam in the eye

    Hi folks,

I would like to comment on the two postings made this week, indicating the demerger was at this stage a "gleam in the eye".

When the term "gleam in the eye" is used it generLly refers to an idea very early in the making with no tangible movement made at this stage to progress. For example, my children were 'a gleam in my eye" prior to conception.

I think this a lot more legs than this and is way beyond gleam in the eye. That is not to sY it is a done deal, obviously there is a way to go before we get to that stage.

Txn have produced a plan for the way forward which they presented at the egm. This plan refers to the demerger. They have put a plan, albeit a broad one, together.

The egm meeting was structure presenting information divided into two parts - txn1 and txn2, in other words weve thought about this enough to present to shareholders in the context of two companies.

At the egm, my interpretation was the john armstrong had a clear belief in the value of the demerger. He intimated that this could occur by year end, without commiting to a end date.

If memory serves me correct, he deferred to a txn lawyer mid meeting in relation to the timing of the demerger and once again, i may stand corrected but the response was that the timelines were achieveable.

I am working off a shaky memory here, but JA Appeared to have a clear and strong belief in the value of unlocking shareholder value through a demerger. He also seemed to indicate that this could happen within months, subject to shareholder Approval.

I walked awAy woth the impression that a demerger by xmas was quite possible. If that is the case, we are beyond a gleam in the eye.

I would really appreciate it if someone else from the meeting could comment on my thoughts and recollections above and am happy to stand corrected if i misheard or misinterpreted anything.

Having said this, have a read of the egm report - talks about a plan.

Meeting attendees, please comment. Is a demerger a gleam or is it conceived and incubating for a xmas delivery.
