Ah!-now you're making sensible arguments worth debating. To your points of contention: As I've previously explained to you some months ago, like all new electronic goods the price of batteries are falling like a rock, and will continue to fall - as will the price of EVs. Second, VW has just committed to investing > $39 Billion to perfect solid state batteries, which will markedly enhance the range of EVs and the duration of battery life. This new breed of battery (according to VW) will be in use by 2023.
What some people fail to appreciate is that, like all new disruptive technology (think computers and mobile phones) this tech (EVs and batteries), which are far less high tech by comparison, is evolving at an exponential rate and cost parity with ICE vehicles (without government incentives) is closer than most can imagine.
Furthermore, from an environmental perspective, our planet is a dead man walking without a drastic change in global energy policy, and this new tech, along with renewables, is one of the main solutions. When the main power grids convert over time to 100% renewables, together with complementary household solar and batteries, EVs will become the norm. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen.
I look forward to a cleaner atmosphere and less polluted air to breath - if not for me, then the next generation, given I'm an old man.
