I just remembered that I sent this email to Bob Carr's predecessor (a Mr K Rudd) about this time last year.
Now I am in no way thinking that this has somehow influenced EMS getting a seat at the Malaria 2012 conference because that would mean that the communication links between gov't and taxpayers actually work - and I really dont think that they do.
But here's another thought.
What if, the "AU$100 million over the next four years to scale up malaria control, contain the spread of drug resistance and advance malaria research"
...included (say) a $5M grant for EMS to pursue further research into artimist? That would represent about 25% of the EMS current mkt cap and would add a NAV per share of 0.8c.
Now this aint going to help me with my overweight oppies position but it sure would go a long way in ensuring the boffins writing the Phase 3 report, the WHO pre-qualification process and the proposed trials in PNG are all paid for and a further capital raising isn't necessary. (Remember EMS has about $980K in the bank)
SC's final comment in his overview got me thinking.
"Eastland is thankful to the Australian Government and AusAID for inviting it to be involved in such an important conference, and for the opportunity to present the results of its research to a group of world leaders in Malaria."
It's along shot and pure speculation on my part.
