Yes sampling has been carried out....(see last qtr activity rep)....
"Test results have now been received from the company’s initial reconnaissance program on Cosmo Newberry carried out in the June/July Period. The results have:
Confirmed the high grade nature of some of the early prospects/mines with promising rock chip samples taken from the dumps;
Provided useful information on the associated geochemistry of the gold mineralisation which will be utilized in plans and preparations for further work ;
Confirmed historical gold anomalies from some earlier regional geochemical sampling carried out in the 90’s at all 4 sites tested. This was important in that it confirmed the potential for getting geochemical anomalies in areas of wind blown sand and also highlighted the presence of other associated minerals. Two of these areas provided strong anomalies."
Not a great deal of information to be had given the "early days"?? nature of the prospect......
However, some actual numbers would've been nice ie "confirmed high grade nature" ??? "Confirmed historical gold anomilies"???
Guess they'll get around to releasing the actual figures at some point......Just don't hold your breath.
It sure has been a "long play".......Truncated timeline of Cosmo history listed below:
First mention of Cosmo was in 2nd Jan 2007 prospectus when they listed....then the following:
22nd april 2008 qtr rep:
"3D Resources has initiated a farm-in and joint venture agreement with Cazaly Resources Ltd where it can 75% interest in the Cosmo West (E80/4014) and Cosmo East (E80/4015) Exploration Licences by spending up to $300,000 on the tenements within three years of granting."
"The additional joint venture tenements will give 3D Resources exploration access to virtually the entire 55 km strike length of the goldfield with the potential for several styles of epigenetic gold mineralisation as well as potential nickel mineralisation associated with komatiite units interpreted from the aeromagnetic data"
30th Aug 2008 qtr rep:
"Cosmo Newberry is regarded as one of the most prospective under-explored greenstone belts in the Eastern Goldfields of WA and has potential for gold and possibly, nickel mineralisation. The Company is currently investigating the implementation of detailed aeromagnetic and radiometric surveys within the extensive tenement portfolio. Negotiations with various parties is continuing to help facilitate initiation of grass roots exploration in the area."
30th Jan 2009 qtr rep:
"It is important to note that similar surface MAGLAG Au anomalies occur over Independence Group – Anglo Gold Tropicana Gold Deposit occurring approximately 100 km to the south and similarly covered by wind blown sand."
29th Oct 2010 qtr rep:
"The Company is presently advancing its access negotiations with the Cosmo Newberry Aboriginal Corporation on its Cosmo Newberry project"
"Despite the presence of prospective greenstone sequences within the Project Area, there has been relatively little systematic, coordinated exploration conducted on the project. Recorded production from mines within the Cosmo Newberry Project Area include 1,360 t at 7.0g/t Au from the Cosmo Mine, 120 t at 37g/t Au from the Butterfly Mine and 60 t at 20.5 g/t Au from the Wanda Mine. The tantalum and lithium potential of the major albite-rich pegmatites that occur in the Cosmo Newberry greenstone belt has yet to be assessed".
30th Jan 2012 qtr rep:
"The company is pleased to report that it has commenced access negotiations for its promising Cosmo Newberry project and is preparing an exploration program pending finalization of the negotiations. The Company’s Cosmo Newbery tenements, covers a significant portion of the under explored Cosmo Newberry greenstone belt. The Cosmo Newberry project is considered to be one of the most under-explored large greenstone belts in the Eastern Goldfields"
30th sept 2013 qtr rep:
"3D Resources has consolidated its exploration license position over the Cosmo Newberry area which contains a largely unexplored greenstone belt".
30th sept 2015:
"The Cosmo Newberry remains a largely unexplored greenstone belt that lies between the Laverton greenstone belt that historically has produced 12million ounces of gold, and the Gold Road Resources Ltd’s discovery in the Yamarna green stone belt where they have reported JORC compliant resources of in excess of 6.1 Million ounces."
30th sept 2016 qtr rep:
"The Company has entered into an agreement with the Cosmo Newberry Aboriginal Corporation, which manages the Aboriginal reserve over the Cosmo Newberry project which was executed at the end of the quarter."
"While the initial access agreement allows only limited reconnaissance work it is seen as a step in the process to gaining full access to this highly prospective area."
1st Jan 2017 qtr rep:
"The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs granted the Company a Mining Entry Permit. This is an important step forward for the Company as access to this project area has been the main barrier to the company exploring this highly prospective greenstone belt."
So Cosmo has been on the books for 10 yrs or since 3D listed. It's taken a while but there's some positive movement happening. And while there's little to go on the region is surely prospective for a potential company making gold find....all imo DYOR.
